Birthday Party at Higgins

Celebrate your child's special day with an exciting journey into the past. Inspire imaginations as you enter our two-story Great Hall for a glimpse of a medieval castle and an up-close look at our many amazing suits of armor. Choose the medieval birthday celebration that best suits your Lord or Lady.

The Royal Birthday Party

This two-hour birthday adventure includes:

  • a costumed Higgins Armory interpreter who guides your group for the duration of the party
  • a private live arms-and-armor show; the birthday child can participate in this interactive story of how knights used armor in battle during a time when chivalry and honor were valued above all
  • a special knighting ceremony for the birthday child
  • $10 in Gold of the Realm for the birthday child to spend in our Museum Store
  • arts and crafts; choose a hands-on workshop for your child and their guests to create their own medieval souvenir:
  • use of our private birthday room and birthday sword to cut your cake
  • museum admission for up to 15 children and 10 adults (additional children may be added for $10 each, up to a maximum of 20 children and additional adults can be added for $7.00 each)

The price of a Royal Birthday Party is $260 ($225 for museum members). For an additional $2 per child, a costumed Higgins Armory interpreter will guide your group through our galleries and answer your questions (note: this option will add 30 minutes to your party).

A Royal Birthday Party can be booked on Saturdays or Sundays. Call us for details on doing a weekday afternoon party.

Advance reservations and a $50 non-refundable deposit are required to secure your date. The total base price is due three weeks before the party date. Any balances due to additional participants or guided tours must be paid before leaving the museum on the day of your party.

The birthday family provides invitations, table decorations, food, and drinks. We provide color-coordinated paper goods (table cloth, paper plates, forks, spoons). You may bring your own theme-related table covering and paper goods if desired. Balloons are allowed in the party room only. Colorful medieval murals decorate the walls of the party room; we ask that you not bring any additional wall decorations.

Per the museum's insurance policy, birthday candles, pinatas, and helium tanks are not allowed.

The party room is equipped with a sink area and full-size refrigerator/freezer (you may not have access to these until your scheduled time depending on the other programs for the day; plan accordingly for ice cream cakes and such). For the Royal party, the time for refreshments is limited; we ask that you limit it to cake and ice cream.

The Noble Birthday Party

This one-and-a-half-hour birthday adventure includes:

  • greetings from a Higgins Armory interpreter, gallery maps and instructions for a special scavenger hunt
  • a schedule of the day's demonstrations and events for your guests to join
  • exploration time in the galleries and use of games and costumes in our hands-on Castle Quest
  • use of our private birthday room and birthday sword to cut your cake
  • $10 in Gold of the Realm for the birthday child to spend in our Museum Store
  • museum admission for up to 15 children and 10 adults (additional children and/or adults may be added for $7.00 each; a maximum of 35 people)

The price of a Noble Birthday Party is $190 ($155 for museum members). A Noble Birthday Party can be booked on Saturdays or Sundays. Your party-goers may enter and stay at the museum for as long as they wish, however, you only have access to the party room for 90 minutes. Call us for details on doing a weekday afternoon party.
