Arms and Armor Show

12:30 pm - 1:00 pm

Why armor? Who wore it, who made it, and why are there so many different types? In this interactive program, discover the history of armor, from its evolution from mail to plate armor to its disappearance (and modern reappearance on the battlefield). Volunteers from the audience will have opportunities to help with the demonstration.

Knighting of the Fathers

1:00 pm - 1:15 pm

Looking for something unique this Father’s Day? Bring Dad to the Higgins to have him become a Knight of the Higgins’ Order of the Steel. You’ll even get a certificate proving his new knightly status!

Knight Training Workshop

1:30 pm - 2:15 pm

Learn how knights fought visor-to-visor on the battlefield. In this 45-minute hands-on workshop you will sample the martial arts training of the medieval knight with such weapons as the poleaxe, dagger, and the knightly longsword.
 
Class is open to age 14 and up, or age 10 if accompanied by a participating parent. Space is limited. No experience is needed and all equipment is supplied. Workshop participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing with long pants and athletic footgear.
